Part 1: Statement of intent

This is the health and safety policy statement of Denmead War Memorial Hall
Our health and safety policy is to:

    ·
  • Prevent accidents and cases of work-related ill health ·
  • Manage health and safety risks in our hall ·
  • Provide and maintain safe equipment ·
  • Ensure safe handling and use of substances ·
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the Denmead War Memorial Hall ·
  • Provide emergency facilities in case of fire or other significant incident

Part 2: Responsibilities for health and safety

  1. The hall management committee take steps to provide hall users with a safe environment.
  2. Overall and final responsibility for health and safety is the hall hirer.
  3. Day-to-day responsibility for ensuring this policy is put into practice is the hall hirer.
  4. All hall hirers should take reasonable care of their own health and safety; and
    report any health and safety concerns to the hall bookings secretary.

Part 3: Arrangements for health and safety

Risk assessment

  • Denmead War Memorial Hall Management will complete relevant risk assessments and take any necessary action.
  • Denmead War Memorial Hall Management will review risk assessments annually.


Training

It is the responsibility of hall hirers to provide health and safety induction and provide appropriate training to any other individuals present in the hall.


Evacuation

Denmead War Memorial Hall Management will make sure escape routes are well signed.
It is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that escape routes are kept clear at all times.
It is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that they have an evacuation plan and that it is tested from time to time and updated if necessary.
